After a devastating fire revealed many covered over architectural elements never seen in this generation, the remnants fell to the dozer. The Paramount Theater was a Goldsboro landmark. It’s upper floors served as the first Synagogue in the area before the construction of Oheb Shalom (second oldest in NC) and where my great aunt Mildred Witherington played the piano for the silent movies.
